Sheila C.'s Story
Life
I turned 57 January 18. I don't feel like it. I just don't know what happened. I just woke up and here I am. I am still alive and breathing so I guess that is a good sign.
I am separated from my husband and ready to move on with my life.
I have 3 sons, and on May the 22nd. 2007 I had a new baby girl born to my youngest son and his wife. I have 6 grand kids. Four boys and 2 girls. They are my heart. Those grand babies just soften your heart and have a way of melting it.
In the past 30 yrs. I have learned to love fishing. I go every chance I get. It is so relaxing being out on the water and just taking it all in. I have fresh water fished but my biggest love is catching a big red, specs, flounders. I stay mainly in the bays and the shallows. It's so much fun. Whether you actually catch anything or not it is still where I really like to be. Although I am at home anywhere my heart is.
School
I had a lot of crushes in High School, better keep those to myself. Pretty shy though. I was looking through some old love letters from school and I found some from guys that had asked me out. Must have gave them some story because I never went out with them. To shy and too worried about what my Dad would say to them.
Mr. Gerard was my homeroom and biology teacher he was very nice and always had a good word to say.
If I could know what I know now I would do it in a heartbeat. I loved high school, but was not always good times. I was one of those kids that had a lot of struggles within themselves. I guess I always had to find things out the hard way. Some things never change.........lol...
I remember when I use to ride our mini bike. I would ride it all the way from 400 block of Cortlandt to Reagan HS. I would ride around the school and out by the field so I could check out the football players. Well one time I was ridi...Expand for more
ng it and I got stopped by the police. There was a young officer in one car and a older one in the other. They were playing good cop, bad cop. Well the older one told me to go straight home and not to stop anywhere and he was going to come by my house and make sure I was home. Well I did that went home, put the mini bike up, and sat on the porch till the sun went down and my Mom made me go in. Well the officer never came by my house. My Dad was a Houston Police Officer so he did find out about it. I never did it again though. I just went from motor to legs and a bicycle.
Another happy time was when I would go with my friends to the Saint Thomas football and basketball games. I worked at the Alfie's fish and chips on S.Shepherd. I worked with Tim Horan and Rene' Licea. We would take the Eagle to the games in Tim's pretty blue convertible mustang. It was a lot of fun hanging out with these guys.
Didn't date a whole lot but most of the guys I dated went to St. Thomas HS.
When I was in Reagan, I had the one friend that is in My Heart and will be till the day I die. He was a great guy, a great friend. So kind and sweet. He was my BESTFRIEND. I remember him always and think of him fondly on a regular basis. Especially around his birthday. Unfortunately he was killed in a motorcycle accident when he was in his mid 20's. Our paths never crossed again after HS. Anyone that has known me since HS, has heard the stories of my friend though. He still lives in MY Heart and the Heart of his Family and Friends. I hope He is looking down on Me and smiling right now. Life is short and you have to live everyday like there is NO tomorrow.
Workplace
Got Married out of school. I had 3 boys. In 1981 started working for Nabisco. I worked there for 18 yrs. In 1999 the plant closed and I retired from there. Now I am enjoying my grand kids
